Mitiga International Airport is an airport in Libya, located about 8 kilometres east of Tripoli's city center. Due to the closure of Tripoli International Airport in July 2014 as a result of the ongoing Second Libyan Civil War, Mitiga International is currently the only airport serving Tripoli.The airport was originally built in 1923 by the Italian Air Force as Mellaha Air Base.
