Barcelona Airport is an international airport located 12 km southwest of the centre of Barcelona, Spain. It is the main airport of Catalonia, the second largest and second busiest in Spain behind Madrid-Barajas Airport, and the seventh busiest in Europe. Barcelona’s first airfield was built in 1916, but a new location in El Prat was chosen in 1918. The airport now uses the code BCN which stands for BarCeloNa.
